The Route

VIENNA - KRAKOW - KATOWICE

26th November to 2nd December

Our cycling expedition has reached Katovice (Poland) on 2 December, the day before the official inauguration of the COP24 Climate Summit. Departing from Vienna (Austria), the third headquarters of the United Nations and the base of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), our peloton has travelled more than 600 kilometres over 7 stages, going through three countries: Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland. The entire route run through beautiful countryside.

The journey started with winter on the doorstep, and, for this reason, we have sought to reduce the mileage and avoid long mountain climbs. The stages were between 70 and 105 kilometres long. You can see the route on the following map.

Carbon Neutral

The carbon footprint of this event has been verified by though ECODES CeroCO2 initiative and will be offset by means of two projects:

The first, belonging to the Voluntary Emissions Market (VER- Verified Emission Reductions), and the second, certified by the UNFCCC (CER – Certified Emission Reductions) through the Climate Neutral NOW platform.

Both programmes have the dual objective of fighting both climate change and poverty. For this, M4CN has obtained the CeroCO2 label and the Climate Neutral NOW certificate, which certify it as a carbon neutral event.
