Pedro Linares
Professor
Comillas Pontifical University, Madrid
Professor of Industrial Organization of the Higher Technical School of Engineering ICAI, director of the BP Chair on Energy and Sustainability, and co-founder and director of Economics for Energy. I am also a researcher at the Technological Research Institute (IIT). I currently serve as Director of the International Doctoral School Comillas Pontifical University, Madrid.
Regarding my teaching and research, I like to define myself as an apprentice of everything (accepting, of course, the negative side of the subject). I am interested in many subjects, almost all of them connected with a broad idea of sustainability, understood as an integral concept that covers the economy, the environment, social capital, innovation, and justice. I dedicate most of my research to studying the relationship between energy, economics and the environment, and in particular sustainable energy policies, energy efficiency, and energy models; but I’m also interested in decision-making (especially multicriteria decision-making methods), social justice, university policy, and some more.
We need to upscale our efforts in energy innovation to meet the very demanding challenges that the climate imposes on us.Pedro Linares - Comillas Pontifical University
Mobilising society is essential: we must transform deeply buildings and transport, and that cannot be done without societal action. Economic signals are essential, but also updated social normsPedro Linares - Comillas Pontifical University
We must rethink the role of consumption and industry in our lives, and how we can evolve towards a circular economy in which we not only minimise carbon emissions, but also the use of materials.Pedro Linares - Comillas Pontifical University
